Raul is carrying on the family tradition of being an irritating nuisance to the US and a thief.
Iran just announced that it will extend Cuba a 200 million Euro loan..that's like $280Million.
Cuba and Iran have signed several MOU, but it wasn't disclosed what Cuba gave up in order to receive the loans.
But we do know from history that Iran just kissed that money good-bye and that it will never be repaid.
The question is what did the Islamic Republic gain from those $280Million?
My cynical side suggest that Iran thinks it has acquired a base of operations for its continuing terror and proxy wars against the West and the US in particular.
These kinds of alliances, like the ones that Iran has with Hamas, Hezbollah, Syria, Venezuela and now Cuba are very useful in asymmetrical conflicts such like the one that Iran has been engaged in since its Islamic Revolution's triumph in the late seventies.
But when the inevitable showdown between the US and Iran begins within the next 5 to 10 years and the Marines are bearing down on the Cuban coast, we'll what the goose-stepping tropical taliban will do.....
My guess is they'll step out of the way

The Iranians are using the Lourdes "eavesdropping" facilities. They have been at it for a few years already, and they also have some "interests" in biotechnology.
