More Repression

Last week, Cuba’s Blooger in chief, Fidel, urged the disaffected Cuban youth to keep sacrificing and fighting for the revolution because "If the young people fail, everything will fail".

On the surface, this may seem as an admission that the revolution is in trouble and that the tyrant was exalting the Cuban youth and trusting them with the future of the “socialist paradise”. BULL

Now, you may think I’m some paranoid hard-line Cuban hot-head exile for not taking Fidel at his word, but I know what I know.

When you grow up in a regime whose only purpose is to subjugate you and pound you into submission, you develop a sixth sense for veiled threats and warnings.

Over at Babalú, I expressed my humble opinion that this statement was merely a threat to the Cuban youth that failure was not an option and that there would be consequences if failure seemed imminent.

Today in Juventud Rebelde, the youths being trained to be MINIT operatives, that is to say the Cuban version of the Gestapo or Stassi have pledged allegiance to Castro and his thugs:

"the young people of the Department of the Interior (MINIT) will not defraud the deposited in us by Fidel, Raul, the Party, the Revolution and the people"

This means that if the rest of Island’s youth, even those conscripted into the armed forces, even think of rebelling , they will have to deal with these up-and-coming repressors.

The CIA (GASP!) had “relationships” with some bad guys … some mobsters .

Golly Gee!

Sounds like these mobsters were more patriotic than all the crybabies that, in myopic and selective hindsight, view the plot to kill Fidel as some sort of national calamity.

Waaaa….

Couldda, Wouldda, Shouldda, …. But they were too wrapped up in moral relativism to do the right thing.

Had they done the right and rid the world of the scourge that is Castro, countless of lives would have been saved in Latin America, Africa, Asia and anywhere else that Castro tried to infect with his virulent and deadly totalitarian disease- not to mention the destruction of a country and its citizens.

It was easier to try to isolate the virus so that only those in the quarantined island would suffer the deadly ravages of Castro’s fatality than to have some countries the likes of Russia and China point fingers, bang shoes and call us hypocrites.

Fidel’s failures are too numerous to recount, beginning with his 48-year postponement of elections or the tens of thousands of murdered victims or the countless dead at sea who tried to escape from an island prison forced to ban boats. Of course, the best evidence for resolving the debate would be a simple poll of everyday Cubans – if only such polls were permitted.

That said, the single most significant factor that should forever put to rest this absurd question is one that always get ignored by Castro’s sympathizers: If Fidel Castro would have had his way in October 1962, Cuba would literally cease to exist. This is not an exaggeration. The fact is that Fidel actually recommended to Soviet General Secretary Nikita Khrushchev that Cuba and the USSR together launch an all-out nuclear attack upon the United States during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and even urged Khrushchev to do so if U.S. troops invaded the island.

This is no secret. Castro has openly admitted it many times. Robert McNamara, President John F. Kennedy’s secretary of defense during the Cuban Missile Crisis, was taken aback by Castro’s candor when the two men discussed the incident years later. Fidel told him flatly, “Bob, I did recommend they (the nuclear missiles) were to be used.”

I guess now that Fidel has been relegated to Chief Blogger and has come out in defense of the same mother Earth that he once tried to obliterate by engulfing it in a thermonuclear holocaust, all is forgiven.

Crying over the fact that somebody in the US actually had the clarity to try to do the right thing rather than crying because of the plot’s failure and the countless lives that were lost or destroyed because of a single solitary maniac.

Castro and his minions claim that as of last year there had been 638 attempts on his life. That’s 13 attempts a year for 48 years. One a month, two in December. Every year. Pellheez….

Killcastro survived over 500,000 attacks – In a few hours:

A DDoS is carried out by instructing hundreds or thousands (or hundreds of thousands) of computers to send traffic to a target site or IP address.

This was a constant attack from over 500,000 PCs around the world sending requests to the ISP. Not to one particular site

The result was that you got a server busy when you tried to load Killcastro. That’s an awful lot of energy to expend to knock a few words off the internet for a mere few hours

Ya No Mas, another popular anti-Castro site disappeared yesterday, but it seems to be back up. Hopefully it wasn’t the result of a similar cyber-attack.

Yesterday, I discovered a worm on a laptop that was trying to get my login to blogger.

Murder-Suicide in the Caribbean?

It’s an all too common occurrence these days. A possessive, abusive man who is finally given his walking papers by the long suffering victim of his abuse, usually his wife, walks right over a restraining order and kills the woman, then kills himself when he sees all is lost.

These guys want to totally possess the object of their disaffection and if he can’t have her all to himself, he would rather see her dead. This way, she can never be anybody else’s.

Sometimes, the animal even kills her children.

When I read the latest from Cuba’s chief blogger today warning Bush that

“I assure you that you will never have Cuba!”

It is one of these psychopathic wife abusers/killers that came to mind.

A possessive and abusive tyrant, he has abused Cuba and her children just like one of these domestic tyrants.

And rather than let her and her children go to be free, happy and progress, no, he would rather they perish forced to protect their oppression and abuse in vain. So that all that is left is

“The dust of her soil soaked in blood”

Just like the abusive husband and father who barricades himself with his family and warn the authorities that come to aid the hostage family, that if they try anything he will kill his family.

When the Time Comes

Raul is carrying on the family tradition of being an irritating nuisance to the US and a thief.

Iran just announced that it will extend Cuba a 200 million Euro loan..that's like $280Million.

Cuba and Iran have signed several MOU, but it wasn't disclosed what Cuba gave up in order to receive the loans.

But we do know from history that Iran just kissed that money good-bye and that it will never be repaid.

The question is what did the Islamic Republic gain from those $280Million?

My cynical side suggest that Iran thinks it has acquired a base of operations for its continuing terror and proxy wars against the West and the US in particular.

These kinds of alliances, like the ones that Iran has with Hamas, Hezbollah, Syria, Venezuela and now Cuba are very useful in asymmetrical conflicts such like the one that Iran has been engaged in since its Islamic Revolution's triumph in the late seventies.

But when the inevitable showdown between the US and Iran begins within the next 5 to 10 years and the Marines are bearing down on the Cuban coast, we'll what the goose-stepping tropical taliban will do.....

My guess is they'll step out of the way

Censorship and Tolerance in South Florida

As a Cuban in Broward County, I get to hear all sorts of Cubanophobic diatribes against the authoritarian tendencies of my fellow exiles in the Banana Republic a few miles to the South who have absolutely no tolerance for opposing views or respect for freedom of expression.

Recently, those Miami-Cubans have been berated in the MSM for speaking out and exercising their rights as taxpayers for refusing that their children be subjected to lies and propaganda in the Miami-Dade public school system by trying to get a couple of truth challenged books out of the public school libraries.

Rather than being praised as a minority for their effective political empowerment, parental involvement and activism for truth, these concerned citizens are accused of being “book banners” and of promoting censorship.

Offending books get pulled from school systems all the time. Down here though, it’s acceptable to offend Cubans. Hell, the only real newspaper in town makes a sport of it.

So, this week in Broward County we had an instance where the County Commission came close to committing and act against the press reminiscent of Hugo Chavez’s bullying of those in the press that he doesn’t agree with.

Commissioner Stacy Ritter lead a group of commissioners who balked at renewing Broward County’s contract with WIOD to broadcast emergency Hurricane information because according to commissioner Ritter:

she did not want to support a station that's out of step with Broward politics. Ritter cited talk shows hosted by Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and WIOD's partnership with Fox News. "They have every right to speak, but we don't have to do business with them," she said.

After being “deluged with complaints”, the county commission will most likely renew
its contract with WIOD.


But those who do business with Broward County have been put on notice that their personal politics and ideology are very important considerations in the County Commission’s decision making criteria.

Very interesting - coming from a bunch of who is always exhorting tolerance and diversity. Yet the local press isn’t calling this shameful exercise in political bullying censorship, rather they view it as petty envy, a misstep, disappointing and smacking of hypocrisy.

They're lucky their not Cuban or the ACLU woud be dragging their public servant butts in front of ajudge ASAP and the press would be calling them intolerant censors.

Chavez: We're not copying Cuba, but Castro 'key influence'

During his visit to Havana, Hugo Chavez had an emotional six-hour meeting with Cuba’s Dictator Emeritus, Fidel Castro.

He was also scheduled to attend a dedication ceremony for the statue of Venezuelan hero Francisco de Miranda at the eastern end of Havana's waterfront, facing Havana Bay.

Chavez insisted during a recent interview to the AP that he is not copying Cuba’s political system in Venezuela:

"We're in the middle of building it, like an artist painting a picture," Chavez said. "We aren't copying anything."

Unfortunately for the Venezuelan people, the picture that Chavez is painting is predominately red and he may not be copying the painting brush stroke for brush stroke but it’s still in the same school of art - paranoid-delusionist:

Fidel Castro told me one day, after they captured Saddam there in that hole where they found him... 'Chavez, look at how they captured Saddam. He should have died fighting. If they invade Cuba, I'm going first, and you will see what you do. You're also on the list. But in any case we cannot be captured in a hole,"'

And………he added that Cuban Democracy is better than the US representative democracy run by the “elite”

"Democracy is government of the people," Chavez said. "I think if we're going to compare the extent of power that the people have, without a doubt Cuba is more of a democracy than the United States."

He’s not copying Castro’s obsession with an American invasion either but…

"They have a plan to invade Venezuela. To deny it would be absurd ... just as they have a plan to invade Cuba. Who could think they don't have a plan to invade Cuba?" said Chavez, who has pledged Venezuela would help defend the island if needed.

One can only dream…….

But, what am I thinking? The only way the US plans on using its mighty military machine when it comes to Cuba is to intercept and return those trying to escape the clutches of Castro, Inc.'s totalitarian tyranny.

An American Journalists, Portia Siegelbaum, talks about journalism in Cuba in this blogterview by CBS:

The Cuban media is basically an information service of the government. Especially in domestic news. What the Cuban media does do is they cover world news. You will see CNN in Spanish stories in the Cuban television news at night. They'll take CNN in Spanish, they'll take Spanish TV. So Cubans in general get a lot of international news, and that comes from outside sources. But in terms of domestic news, the source is the Cuban government, or Cuban government ministry functionaries, and they're feeding information to their press.

Ms. Sigelbaum describes the tightrope walking that must be maintained by balancing their news stories carefully to avoid having the rope ( press credentials) pulled out from under them.

Yet it seems to me that the MSM excuse the Cuban government and put up with certain limitations that they would never stand for in the free world.

Real Revolutionaries Don't Wear Shorts

Say what you will about Fidel, but at least he had a certain revolutionary fashion sense that defined him.

He had a look. Cultivated and recognized worldwide, even revered by those who are simple minded enough to gravitate to the left and read comic books where the heroes only wear one outfit.

Even now that he has been relegated to blogging about climate change and submarines, he has a new "look" of sorts. The red-white and blue Adidas track suit has now become as synonymous with the tyrant as the his olive green military uniform, beard and cigar once where. And experts, analysts and Cuba watchers all point to his new look as a sign that Castro is in no condition to take back the reigns of power. Even his Bolivarian protege in Caracas urged, no, insisted, that the comandante to put his uniform back on recently.

Bush urges Pope to act as broker with Cuba

The Cubanophobia gripping the US government in its desire for post-Castro stability (read no mass refugee exodus a la Mariel) is so severe, that president W, has turned to divine guidance to ensure that once evil-incarnate is no longer incarnated, the Cuban – Americans living in Florida don’t take to the sea and cause instability by liberating their enslaved extended family, taking half of South Florida’s wealth with them and devastating the Real State values and tax base of the Sunshine State.

Mr Bush's appeal over Cuba came after a leaked memorandum put together by the US State Department warned that the death of Castro could lead to huge instability on the island, as hundreds of thousands of Cuban exiles make the 90-mile journey home from Florida. The Church would be the only point to which all Cubans could look for guidance. Eusebio Mujal-Leon, the head of a pro-Cuba project at Georgetown University in Washington, said: "Bush sees in the Church a way of dragging Havana away from communism, just as it helped in Warsaw."

Also interesting to note in the Telegraph’s report is that the US is looking towards the Pope as a go between:

The United States wants the Pope to act as an "honest broker" between it and Cuba, helping to defrost decades of enmity.

I wonder what happened to the “any dialogue has to be between the Cuban government and the Cuban people” rhetoric of last year?

Maybe the US’s position on Cuban freedom is closer to Spain’s than it would appear.

The Church, Spain and the US - The unholy trinity of Cuban oppression may be back in business.

Hopefully His Holiness will remind the suddenly Cubanophobic W that freedom and God given human rights trump stability and the almighty buck.

Don't Mess With Cubans

I usually don’t talk about myself on my blog because frankly, who cares?

But I don’t feel like rehashing the many evil doings of Castro, Inc. today.

I hate going to get a haircut because I hate waiting.

I hate to wait because thanks to Castro’s revolutionary ideas, it seems I spent the better part of my childhood standing in lines waiting for my turn to buy some rationed necessity of poor quality.

Anyway ... I go to a barbershop with like 25 barbers so if you’re not too particular about who cuts your hair, you’re in and out in 20 minutes. No wait. (Carl's on SR84 in Davie)

My hair has been highlighted in gray and white by Mother Nature to give me a more mature and distinguished look.

Today I made my thrice yearly pilgrimage to the barber shop.

And since the barbers expect a tip, it tends to create an atmosphere of “tolerance” to my natural obnoxiousness which I take advantage of to mess with them.

In the past, my stunts have included telling a barber I had only wanted a trim after he gave me flat-top and indignantly asking “what receding hairline?” when a barber told me he left my hair longer in the front to “hide” my receeding hairline.

Today, I told Hector, the lucky victim, that I wanted him to cut the gray out and leave only the black.

Hector pondered the request for a nano second and said “no problem, I’ll give you the same haircut I have”

Hector is bald.

A Dissident's Dissident

Ex-Dissident Vaclav Havel continues to prod, push and make noise about Cuba’s freedom in Europe.

No stranger to the oppression and deprivation suffered buy the victims of totalitarianism, Havel works to enlighten those who haven’t experienced hopelessness, humiliation and terror that an omnipotent state can inflict on its citizens.

Havel criticises EU's appeasement diplomacy towards Cuba

Prague, June 6 (CTK) - The European Union repeatedly applies a strange diplomatic caution towards the Communist Cuba, former Czech president Vaclav Havel said at an international conference of pro-democratic activists today.

He said that, for example, EU countries say that Cuban dissidents should not be invited to the celebrations of national holidays at their embassies in Havana.

Havel said that the EU might take an "appeasement" stand on Cuba, and that the current conference should tell the EU that this is not the right path to follow.

Havel said that democratic countries take a cautious stand because they are not sure whether they can rely on dissidents, whether some of them do not cooperate with the local police.

He said that in spite of this risk, it pays to support the dissidents.

In the opposite case, it could happen that the overall situation in the world would worsen and that billions would have to be invested in defence systems.

Havel has focused on human rights observance in Cuba for a long time.

He said at a meeting of the International Committee for Democracy in Cuba (ICDC) in Berlin in April that "Europe should catch up with the United States in its effort at human rights as well," in an allusion to the EU's effort to compete with the United States in the economy.

The ICDC was established on Havel's initiative four years ago as an association of politicians and intellectuals.

Those of us who work for a free and democratic Cuba, could have no better ally that Mr. Havel and certainly owe him our gratitude and respect.

Carlos Lage Davila, the Cuban Vice President, gave a speech on Saturday in which he admitted that the regime lied to him and to the Cuban people when it claimed that it had met its 2006 goals for new home construction.

He also said that " hiding or lying will never be an acceptable alternative under any circumstances"

So.....

Does this mean they're packing up and leaving?

Because that's pretty much all they've done for the past 48 years.

The regime dragged out its blogging cadaver for an “interview” with Randy Alonso on Cuba’s round table this evening.

The tyrant was wearing his now famous red white and blue Adidas tracksuit.

Frankly, he was unintelligible.

It should now be obvious to the Cuban people that Fidel isn’t coming back.

Apparently Castro was praising Viet Nam and its economic and social advances.

Hmmmm……………..

Meanwhile when Marta Beatriz Roque was asked about how the Cuban people received the interview, she said that she didn’t know anyone in her Santo Suarez neighborhood that had bothered watching the “Round Table”. She said that her neighbors where more interested in watching Brazilian Telenovelas and that the best thing about Castro’s public absence was that he hadn’t been monopolizing the airwaves with his multi-hour long diatribes.

Castro however promised Randy that he would be back for more round table discussions….

And another thing...

the whole interview seemed like an old Kung Fu movie from Hong Kong dubbed into Spanish. Maybe in between his blogging, meeting and greeting, studying global climate change and his other assorted duties as Dictator Emeritus, he managed to learn Vietnamese and answered Randy's questions in Vietnamese

Anti-American Demonstration in Spain

The Socialist Zapatero Government has decided that Cubans do not need to be involved in its own future. Rather than urging the Cuban government to dialogue with its citizens and begin to empower them democratically, they have taken the route of being the spokespersons for the Cuban people by having "human rights" talks directly with the Cuban government and cutting the Cuban paople out of the progress altogether.

"I'm sure that after some time goes by, [Miss Rice] will probably be more convinced that the Spanish approach can have its results," he said.

Like Rice said "Don't Hold your breath".

Spanish foreign policy is being driven by socialist idealogues who are more interested in challaging the US by proping up the tropical socialist tyrant than in democracy for Cuba.

No Infrastruture Today Or For The Past 48 Years

Perhaps now that the Today Show is in Havana providing some public affairs programming for the Hemisphere’s only military dictatorship(for now), we will hear tales of woe of how the crumbling Cuban infrastructure is a result of the big bad embargo in an attempt to tug at the heartstrings of Middle America with a good ol fashioned dose of liberal guilt.

The fairy tale has been retold so many times that it’s now accepted as truth.

In another retelling today the Miami Herald brings us :

Cuba struggles to rebuild infrastructure

Decades of neglect and chronic budget shortages have left the infrastructure crumbling. Aging power plants and an inefficient electricity grid need updating, sewer and water systems suffer frequent breakdowns, houses and office buildings are deteriorated and many roads are filled with potholes.

''We suffered a serious crisis in the 1990s,'' said Leonel González, a member of Cuba's National Assembly, referring to the loss of some $6 billion in annual subsidies after the collapse of the Soviet Union. ``The crisis caused a lot of problems with energy, transportation, food production and the economy. Our priorities are to reduce the negative impacts on the people.''

The problem with Cuba is that its leader stole everything and then refused to maintain it, choosing instead to spend Cuba’s patrimony chasing revolutionary pipe dreams all over the world.

Once Castro, Inc. bankrupted the old USSR, it set its grifting sights on other takers to start “subsidizing” its economy. (More marks to steal from) :

A key part of Cuba's strategy for rebuilding its public works and services hinges on new trade and assistance agreements with China and Venezuela.

China has signed deals to provide Cuba with credit it can use to purchase buses and other badly needed items.

And here’s the other fairy tale we’ve been hearing for 48 years:

Cuba, meanwhile, seems determined to continue building its economy.

BS. Cuba’s “economy” is Castro, Inc.’s coffers. Castro has never had any intention of providing for his people. On the contrary, he has done everything possible the keep the Cuban people from any economic progress so that they have to rely on the State (Castro, Inc.) for everything.

Interpreting the Tyrant

Fidel Castro took time out from his blogging on Saturday to meet with the General Secretary of the Vietnamese Communist Party, Nong Duc Manh, who visited Cuba this weekend.



The Adidas Tracksuit clad blogging tyrant only seems to meet with foreign leaders that require interpreters. For example, when the Spanish foreign minister visited to Cuba to firm up his country'ss exploitative businesses on the island, Fidel was too busy studying the environmental impact of ethanol on the planet to meet with him, yet he met with a Chinese emissary. He now meets with a Vietnamese leader.

Interesting. But the regime would never put words in the maximum leaders mouth would they? NO!

But a little food for thought for you conspiracy theorists out there :

JR reports that Fidel praised the heroic people of Viet Nam for its economic advancement.

That's odd since Fidel considers that any kind of private entrepreneurship and property goes against the very egalitarian principles that his revolution is supposedly founded on.

SPAM , Snow and Condescension

It’s spamhog day for Gusano.

Everyday I get up and I read about Spam.

Yesterday, we found out the Cuban government announced that it plans to spend $118 million in food from the US – including- the aforementioned mystery meat..

Today they caught the king of spam , who will probably receive the death penalty for his electronic transgressions against humanity.

And Anita Snow is going on the “libreta” diet.

You see, Ms. Snow who is the AP reporter in Havana, and she has decided that she can’t

fully appreciate the Cuban experience until I eat as they do. So I've decided to spend June eating nothing but the rations and other food that Cubans earning an average salary can buy at farmers' markets using Cuban pesos.

Snow goes on to describe the meager monthly rations that Cubans are allowed to buy from the state.

Maybe in the future, they will be allowed a can of SPAM per month also!

Oh and if you think that Ms. Snow is just kidding, Think again. She continues to shill for the regime by informing us that she’s looking forward to her dietary revolutionary sacrifice, which of course is just for her own good.

I hope to develop healthier eating habits out of necessity: cutting down on red meat and dairy products, planning meals ahead, buying fresh produce at the agros.

She then adds:

But come July 1, I'll also be ready for a big, juicy steak.

I wonder if she’s going to eat the big, juicy steak in public to rub the Cuban’s noses in it?

Would any Cuban even recognize a steak?
