Since yesterday's Cuban Tree Frog post, it has been pointed out to me that the Cuban Tree Frog is not the only feared invader, other than refugees, in Florida.
There's also the little Cuban Brown Anole.
The Cuban Brown Anole is wreaking havoc in Floridian backyards and replacing the native green anole as the dominant species. This is, of course, of great concern to scientists who have all sorts of papers and studies on the subject. Perhaps a classic case of "green flight"?
Apparently the Cuban Brown Anoles snuck into Florida bringing their foreign customs and lifestyle with them and thus throwing the eco-lizard balance into chaos. I haven't seen it myself, but I've heard the Cuban Anoles are much louder, wear flashier lizard skins, and play louder music than the native lizards. They also told me that the brown lizards roast their insect victims in little boxes before they eat them, further contributing to the demise of the planet's ecological system by increasing carbon emissions.
There are no plans right now for legislation to stop this unwanted and dangerous migration or any task forces to prevent any mass brown migrations, but this can change.

Those anoles.... I am telling you, I had one in my backyard once, and it would live it all trashed, with little empty lizard-sized beer cans, little tostones, and one of them even was fixing a truck there!
I heard that they now have blogs and all....
